The value of QI certification
Wireless charging is becoming more and more popular, and more and more companies are realizing its potential. Apple's adoption of Qi and the addition of the WPC Wireless Charging Alliance have greatly boosted the use of wireless charging. However, the rapid growth of the wireless charging market has led to the production of many low quality, counterfeit products. These products are insecure. This is one of the reasons we emphasize the importance of Qi certification.
Qi certification
Let's start with Qi certified abc: What is it, what is it used?
Like Bluetooth, NFC, USB and Wi-Fi, Qi is a global standard. The philosophy behind Qi is that all certified equipment is compatible with all certified chargers. This eliminates the need for additional chargers, cables or adapters, especially when the use of Qi-certified chargers outside the home becomes more prevalent. Imagine no need to bring a charger when you travel, because your hotel will provide wireless charging. Watch sports, eat at the restaurant or in other public places no longer have to worry about the battery being dead, because there is a wireless charging station ready to use.
Qi certification test
Products using the Qi standard must undergo rigorous testing to ensure safety, interoperability and energy efficiency. The Qi mark is only available for products that are required for independent laboratory testing and is considered a "Qi Certified Product". All tests were performed by a separate WPC Authorized Testing Laboratory (ATL) using validated test equipment.
During the compliance test, new products are tested to ensure they meet the requirements of the Qi specification. During interoperability testing, new products need to be tested for compatibility with a wide range of existing products, ensuring that all new products are "backward compatible" with existing Qi products.
WPC requires new products to be interoperable with certified products prior to obtaining a Qi certificate to ensure that all Qi products work together. For example, there are nearly 300 products in the IOP authorized laboratories in Hong Kong for interoperability testing.

You may not realize that the Qi standard requires authentication. But do you really need to worry about this? Yes! Using a charger that is not Qi certified can be dangerous. Unauthenticated wireless chargers are usually labeled with "Qi compatible" or "Qi enabled" instead of "Qi certified". These products may not have the necessary protection features required by the Qi standard.
Risk of injury
Qi certification includes foreign matter detection (FOD). This means that through a Qi-certified product, the transmitter (charger) of the wireless charging system can detect foreign objects: for example, a piece of metal is located on the surface of the charging product. In this case, the charger either does not start charging at all or stops charging. However, if the wireless charger does not have a foreign object detection function, or if the function does not work properly, it is placed close to the wireless charger, or between the charger and the mobile phone.
Objects (such as car keys or headphones) can get very hot. This can cause serious injuries, including third degree burns.
Risk of equipment damage
The Qi specification includes measures to limit the wireless charger's ability to generate voltage in other mobile devices. Unauthorized wireless chargers, if not properly designed, can cause high voltages inside the mobile device when the mobile device is close to the charger. These high voltages can damage your device.
The Qi specification also includes magnetic shielding of the battery to minimize overheating of the battery and mobile phone. Overheating the charger can damage the battery itself and shorten battery life. Contact with uncertified charger surfaces can cause serious damage when the temperature reaches or exceeds 100 °C. It may even cause your phone case to melt, which can damage your phone.

Incompatible risk
One of the key ideas behind Qi is that all Qi products are interoperable: any Qi-certified mobile device can work with any Qi-certified wireless charger.
Products that are not certified by Qi may not be compatible with other wireless charging products.
How to identify Qi certified products

How to identify whether a product really has Qi certification? The following indicators can help you identify whether a product is a counterfeit product or an officially certified Qi product.
* Verify that the product is in the Qi certified product database: All Qi certified products can be found in this database. If you find an exact match for the brand name, product name, and model number, the product is Q certified.
* According to the Qi logo: Only the products that have passed the Qi certification can legally use the Qi logo.
* Note the description of Qi on the product and promotional materials - the "Qi certified" is the only official statement. A statement like "Qi compliant", "Qi compatible" or "works with Qi" may indicate that the product has not been tested by the official Qi certification.
